Okay, it isn’t true, but it should be if their stylists sent them out looking like this! However, lots of us who don’t have paparazzi following our every move step out our doors every day sporting something just as bad. In Frizzies can be caused by any number of things; sometimes its a lack of conditioner and sometimes its over-conditioned. That's right, over-conditioning porous chemically treated hair can give it that 'just stuck my finger in a light-socket' look.
Some conditioners work by attracting moisture out of the air, thus causing the cuticle to expand; the hair swells and appears dry when it's actually over-saturated with moisture. Usually this happens when the hair is lacking in protein, which in turn is caused by over processing! (Grounds for the indictment?)
A skilled stylist knows that you must use a protein replacement before conditioning. Too much protein without moisture could also make your hair look like stuffing torn from inside the Wizard of Oz's Scarecrow. It's best to check with a trusted beauty professional to help you select the proper balance of protein to moisture.
Once you've achieved the proper balance, silicone Protectants and other potions and polishing agents can add control to seal and protect it from the various elements that can cause it to frizz out of control. Flat ironing to straighten the hair is a technique used by many women to flatten and shine unruly hair. However, it's always best to use Protectants and sealants on your hair first so you don't do more damage to the hair's keratin and leave it looking even frizzier when it dries naturally.
Don't just take the advice from some beauty editor in a national magazine! Egg whites and mayonnaise aren't going to help. Trust your hair to someone who knows it; your stylist. And if your stylist is giving you these types of results, find another! Paris...Pam...I'm talking to you!
